I’m Wade.

This all started because I was looking for a piece of software and couldn’t find anything that really did what I wanted.

After spending far too long searching, I had an idea:

I wonder if that fancy AI could build it?

So I asked ChatGPT.

ABSOLUTELY!

Well… that sounded easy enough. 😂

And down the rabbit hole we went.

I’m not a programmer or a software engineer. I didn’t really know how to build what I wanted. But I could explain the problem, talk it through with ChatGPT, try something, see what happened and go from there.

That’s pretty much what we’ve been doing ever since.

Every time we got a little further, we seemed to find another problem. So we’d talk about that one too. Sometimes we found a better way of working. Sometimes we ended up building another little piece of software just to help us carry on.

Along the way I’ve learned quite a lot about what works for me when working with AI — and, equally importantly, quite a lot about what doesn’t. 😂

The funny thing is, the original piece of software that started all of this still isn’t finished.

We’re well into version five.

Apparently ABSOLUTELY! didn’t include a timescale. 😂

But trying to build it has taken us places I never expected.

So that’s what you’ll find here.

The tools we’ve built to solve problems along the way. The ways of working that have helped me. The things that went well, the things that went completely wrong, and the stories behind them.

Some things are finished. Some are still being built. We’re not going to pretend otherwise.
